The Municipality of Payao spearheaded two major activities on July 3–4, 2025 in observance of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), themed: “KUMILOS: Kayang Umaksyon ng Mamamayan, Isabuhay ang Kahandaan ng Bawat Isa Para Maging Ligtas sa Oras ng Sakuna.”
The celebration began with a Coastal Clean-Up and Mangrove Tree Planting on July 3, actively participated in by LGU employees, barangay officials, youth volunteers, and other national agencies (OCD, PNP, BFP, Phil. Army, PCG)
On July 4, Payao hosted the Regional Kick-Off Ceremony, attended by Regional Directors and representatives from key agencies: OCD Region IX, RDRRMO, DILG, TESDA, DOT, DOST, DSWD, DHSUD, 106th Infantry “Tigpanalipod” Battalion, PDRRMO-Zamboanga Sibugay, LDRRMOs from Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga Sibugay
Mayor Hon. Joshua Carlo R. Mendoza welcomed all delegates and highlighted the importance of unified action in building resilient communities.
These events mark Payao’s continuing leadership in advancing multi-sectoral disaster preparedness and environmental resilience.
